English classes
We offer English classes to primary school aged children on Tuesdays between 3 and 6 pm and to older children and teenagers on Wednesdays at the same time, with singing classes thrown into the mix! The aim is that they learn, have fun and build healthy friendships. We also want them to feel supported in their studies, cared for and protected whilst their parents are at work for the most part. They receive a nutritious snack and also have time to play and burn some energy in the garden or sports court just down the road from My Father’s House!
School support
The house is also open on Friday mornings to offer homework support to those who have school in the afternoon or at night (mainly teenagers). The doors are also open for anyone who wants to come in and have a cup of tea and a chat, make some crafts or be prayed with.
Recreation
We offer a space for sports, baking, gardening and crafts to children in the area on Friday afternoons between 3 and 6 pm.
Guitar and computing classes
We also have a space open just for teenage boys on Thursday afternoons, teaching guitar and basic computing skills whilst at the time seeking to make this time a safe space to build healthy relationships and strong values in the young men attending.
Craft and cooking sessions
Every other week we have a space on a Sunday afternoon just for women who want to take a break from their busy lives and learn to bake different treats, knit, simply observe or chat or do some wood painting. Our aim in these afternoons is that those who come feel rested and listened to and empowered as they learn or improve different skills.
